I started this blog in March 2016 to set out my thoughts on the forthcoming EU referendum. The original About is reproduced below.
I have continued it because, despite a clear Leave vote we don’t yet have Brexit, or even Article 50. There is still a lot to talk about.
About – March 2 2016
On June 23 2016 the UK will vote in a referendum on the question:
“Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?”
So why is this blog called June 24? Because June 24 will be the day the result is announced, and the Prime Minister will notify the European Council of our intention to leave the EU under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.
June 24 will be the beginning of the two year period after which membership of the EU will end, and the UK will once again be a self-governing democracy. June 24 2018 will be UK Independence Day.
This is the most important political decision in a generation, yet most UK citizens know little about the EU or the implications of staying or leaving.
In this blog I will attempt to cover all the main issues that might affect anyone’s decision to Leave or Remain. But I am not just going to give you my opinion. I am going to provide evidence in the form of quotations and where possible links so the reader can check the facts for themselves.
